Presented as part of Boca del Lupo’s Micro Performance Series
Produced by the multiple Jessie Richardson Award-winning Pi Theatre. Building on the speculative fiction concept introduced by Boca del Lupo and The Performance Corporation’s Expedition series, Pi Theatre will imagine how climate change will affect the world 150 years in the future.
Genetic Drift introduces a world where global temperatures have risen to a level where human life can no longer sustain itself. Society’s solution in the face of impending extinction? Splice human DNA with those of life forms that can survive extremely high temperatures. Genetic Drift brings us into the life of Gary 3, one such human/creature hybrid as he details the circumstances of his life and his world.
This show explores not only the ramifications of climate change, but also the ethics of science, specifically the hubris associated with scientists and politicians “playing God”. Multi-media elements, along with a solo performer in close proximity to the audience will create a truly immersive experience not to be forgotten.
